The Name

From ancient Greek meaning
"a drinking together."

In ancient Greece a Symposium was the highest form of social gathering. After a feast, the most distinguished guests would remain. Wine was poured. Music played. Poets, philosophers, artists, and leaders would engage in conversation, debate, and celebration that was considered sacred. It was curated, exclusive, and intentional. Only the right people were invited. Beauty and intellect coexisted. The symposiasts — the members — were the point. Not the venue, not the program. The room itself was the experience.

Plato wrote one of his greatest works simply called The Symposium. The subject was the nature of love and beauty. That is the founding philosophy of this community.
